Books About Several Species

These books provide how-to-grow it information for several species. They are great if you are interested in exploring a new species, but don't know which one. They are highly recommended, but they have their strengths and weaknesses. If you can buy only one book, get Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms. The Mushroom Cultivator has a wealth of information on the diseases and contaminants of mushroom culture. That's critical when you find something unusual growing with your mushrooms (and you will eventually!). Hadeler's book is easier reading (lacking in detail) and aimed more at home growers.

If you know which species you want to grow. Choose one of these books. We've presented the best available.

Health Information

If you can buy only one of these books, buy Hobbs'. It covers virtually all of the medicinal species in fair depth. If you want more details on a particular species, try the other books.
